Applications in the prescribed format are invited from the eligible candidates for the Doctoral and Post Doctoral research (position one each) under the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Fellowship attached to the Centre for Assamese Studies.
The fellowship will be awarded for undertaking full time research on (1) Language, Literature, Culture, Religion of Assam and Northeast India, (2) Music and other traditions of Visual and Performing Arts of the region, (3) Issues related to Ethnic and Social Harmony of Northeast India.
1.Name of the Post -: Doctoral Fellowship:
A candidate must possess
(i) consistently good academic career with atleast 55% of marks at the Master’s degree level,(ii) good command over both English and Assamese language,(iii) knowledge of and involvement in music in general and Assamese music in particular for those choosing music as the area of study (basically modern and folk vocal music) and (iv) familiarity with Assamese literature, culture, society and history is essential.
2 .Name of the Post -:Doctoral Fellowship:
A candidate must possess (i) consistently good academic career with atleast 55% of marks at the Master’s degree level, (ii) a Ph.D. degree in any discipline, (iii) evidence of research/ expertise in the form of books and publications in peer reviewed journals in the areas identified for the fellowship, (iv) good command over both English and Assamese language, (v) knowledge of and involvement in music in general and Assamese music in particular for those choosing music as the area of study (basically modern and folk vocal music) and (iv) familiarity with Assamese literature, culture, society and history is essential.
Fellowship: Rs.12,000/- p.m. to the Doctoral Fellow for four years and Rs.14,000/- p.m. to the Post Doctoral Fellow for two years.
Selection: On the basis of Entrance test/ Personal Interview. The Post Doctoral fellow will be selected on the basis of the candidate’s doctoral work and quality of publication.

The filled in application along with a bank draft of Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST) drawn in favour of the Registrar, Tezpur University payable at Tezpur should reach to the undersigned by 27.03.2014.
